About us

Geraldine English is the Manager of the Service, Nicola Montes and Simon Frankham are Caseworkers and Jo McLeod is the Administration Assistant, all of whom have received suitable training.

We provide free, impartial, confidential and accessible advice, information and support on matters relating to special educational needs and disabilities (including concerns relating to health and social care) for:

  1. parents or carers of children with SEN or disabilities aged from 0-25; OR
  2. young people aged 16-25 with SEN or disabilities.

This includes children in early years settings, pupils in schools, students at colleges of further education, young people in apprenticeships and training programmes, young people who may have SEN and who are currently unemployed and in none of the above educational programmes.

We have a telephone help-line, answering calls from parents, professionals and young people who need help and advice on various aspects of special educational needs. We can also meet with you at Sale Waterside to discuss your case in more detail, or if you prefer we can visit you at home.

Our telephone helpline working hours are 9am - 12pm, Monday to Friday.  A limited service is available outside of these times and dates, as well as a 24 hour confidential answerphone service.

We aim to respond to all requests for advice/information within three working days.

We will try answer all written correspondence (including letters and emails) with an initial contact with three working days.

All our information is available if different formats, such as different languages or large print, on request.

Our office is based within Sale Waterside, which is fully accessible and also has hearing loops and a lift.
